Handling after putting in Aspen

I got a bag of Aspen today, an 8 quart bag, although I have no idea how big that is as we use metric over here :) Anyway I plan on putting in about 1.5 to 2 inches but my concern is that Slither will get lost in it and I will never get her out to handle, she is still a bit skittish. Any suggestions welcome
 
We use English units, but all I can tell you is 8 quarts is 2 gallons:D...or about 7.5 liters, I believe.

Go for it. If it's a hatchling or smaller sized snake, you probably don't need any more than 1.5 inches, but you're always free to use as much as suits your tastes. Most of my corns seemed to like to hide down in the aspen at times. This meant that I would have to fish them out to handle, feed, clean, etc, but that's no big deal. It's no worse than removing them from their favorite hide, which is also perfectly fine to do. If most folks waited until their snake was willing to be captured and held, they might never get the opportunity.



And when did inches become metric?;)
 
I stick about 2 inches worth of aspen in the bottom of my youngsters tanks.

Just have to go digging & fishing when you need to get them out. Can be quite fun sometimes actually. :grin01:

She is about only a few months old so don't want to hide her completely esp as I am slowly starting to handle her a bit. She is currently on paper over lino but seems to prefer the lino to the paper :) So I will leave her lino in as that will cover the bit under her water bowl/hide

I used inches coz every book and caresheet mentions it :)

Digging, that sounds fun, just need to find something for her to feed off first, was thinking about a water bowl like the ikea one in another thread but not sure as that would be awkward to clean so may just go for another one of the wife's tupperware containers
