My new Corn snake Mouser is a real cutie. I have 3 young kids that adore him. Regarding handling, how much is too much? The kids and I are very gentle with him, and I want him to be accustomed to being held, but don't want to overdo it. He's normally held for 5 min or so per day but once a week when the kids are here he gets held a couple of times per day for about 15-20 min each time.
I'd appreciate any input.

Well if it is a hatchling it should be eating every 4-5 days and a snake should not be held for around 48 hours after eating. Except to put it back in the viv. With my hatchlings once they are very secure in their surroundings, maybe as much as 3-4 weeks I will handle them a little longer before feeding. I may take one out for a bit, but not everyday. I think you get a feel for when a snake is OK with hadling. i have a yearling that squirms and wiggles and I have one that would sit with me for an hour.
 
I agree with Susan..I'm really careful with holding prior to feeding and post:)

I have one snake if I hold her the day she is going to eat she wont eat..it obviously stress' her out. And I always leave mine alone the same way for 48 hours afterwards. I know it is hard with little ones they want to love on them but for the snakes well being and so it doesnt become skiddish in the later years you may want to limit it a bit.
 
As long as the snake is feeding well and given at least 48 hours of no handling after feeding, it's probably okay with the handling.

I usually keep handling to a minimum, or none at all, until a hatchling has eaten at least 4 or 5 times with no problems.
