Handling question

I picked up my new cornsnake on Sunday. I handled her for the first time on Wednesday night. My question is how often should I handle her is once a day too often? By the way she is about 6 weeks old.

You can handle her all you want however after she eats you should wait about 2 or 3 days to let her digest her meal. Then repeat the same steps.

Love the Fatman

When they are that small you are going to stress them no matter what. At that size they think everything is going to eat them. However, over time they learn.

Obviously you don't want to overdo it, and the fact that you're asking the question shows that you care about not stressing the snake. However do consider that the quicker your wee girl gets used to being handled by you, the less stress she will go through when being handled as an adult. I'm betting both of you will start to enjoy it in no time :)

I'm still pretty new to snakes but I'm handling our new snake for about 15 minutes each day. I don't handle her for two days after she eats. And right now she seems to be getting ready to shed. Her colors were dull, she's hiding a lot. I was worried since I didn't see her come out at her normal time, so I really rummaged around to find her (it's a big tank) and when I finally found her she was very anxious and didn't seem to be comfortable with being held. They can't see very well when they're getting ready to shed.

So for now I'm not bothering her till after she sheds.
