Handsome snow(?) corn, Javier (the 'J' is silent)

I bought him earlier today from a friend of mine who frankly wasn't talking very good care of the little fella. I'm assuming it's a male, but I wouldn't be too broken up to learn otherwise.

This is my first snake.. honestly I wasn't even sure which species it was until I visited the pet shop he was initially purchased from. The lady there told be it was a snow corn.

He's currently going through a bad shed, it's coming off in pieces and strips rather than all in one piece. I've been misting his tank (yeah, hes currently in a large screen topped fish tank) and gave him a bath earlier following a thread I saw on here..

Thanks, I think so too.

I've been handling him since basically I got him earlier today.. I'm not sure if that's necessarily a good idea but he's not unfriendly, I'd almost venture to say he's affectionate.

Should I be concerned that he spends the vast majority of his along time buried in the substrate? He tunnels around like an earth worm.

Hey, thanks for the tip. I'll keep hands off for the next couple of days so he can settle in.

This site really is a great resource, so much great information and so little time to read all of it.

You can always use a towel, or a piece of plastic tarp placed over 2/3 to 3/4's of the top to help hold in humidity when using a screened top aquarium. A big (as in surface area) water dish will help keep humidity up too. Nice first snake :*)
