Has anyone used Chlorhexadine?

Khaman

Headed for rehab.
While I had my dog in at the vet today I noticed that use Chlorhexidine for disinfecting and I had seen it for sale on several sites that deal with reptiles so I ask how good it was. The tech just raved like it was a miracle drug that killed everything but viruses and it was used as a topical antiseptic as well.

Has anyone used this stuff? How good is it? How do you apply it?

As a vet-tech I use it. It comes in both a solution, a normal scrub, and a surgical scrub. It is a very effective product. Mostly we use it to soak extremities, such as infected wounds on paws. We wash our hands with the normal scrub, and use the surgical scrub as part of prepping patients for surgery. We do sometimes use the solution to clean, but not often because we have solutions that work on viruses as well. But they are rather 'harsh'.
