hatch question

I had my first pip either yesterday or this morning, but none of the others are pipping yet. My family was planning on leaving for the weekend. Do most eggs hatch around the same time? This guy was early, but I am afraid that more will start to hatch while I'm gone and I don't want to leave them in the incubator if they are out of egg, unless that is not a problem. Should I stay home and watch them, which I am willing to do? Thanks.

If something bad happens while you are gone- would you be ok with that? I don't know like what- escape, cannibalism, rolling the other eggs...I guess if it was me, and I _could_ stay with them, I would. Are you going to have fun anyway if you're away from them worrying?

If one has started to hatch, the others will probably hatch over the next several days. Do you have anyone you can trust who would keep an eye on them for you?

I wouldn't want to leave them unattended while they were hatching because I'd miss all the fun of seeing them hatch. I also want to be around to get the babies out of the incubator and into a more appropriate home. I'd hate to see something happen to one of them.

What kind of container are they in? Does it have large holes that the hatchlings could escape from? If it does not, then if you are only going to be gone a couple of days they will most likely be fine. Typically corns won't cannibalize right out of the egg - it's after they shed that you have to worry about the bigger ones eating the smaller ones. I know several breeders who keep the newly hatched corns in a single tupperware (with small holes for air) right up until they shed and are offered the first meal.

Don't forget that the corns will exist the eggs 24-48 hours after pipping, so the entire clutch can take a few days to pip and emerge. One of our clutches took 7 days for all of the snakes to leave the eggs. The other was done in about 3-4 days.

i had to leave my eggs last weekend, in exactly the same situation.
i put my incubator in a large holding tank incase any more hatched and there were large enough holes in it for any babies to get out and into the tank which had appropriate bedding and water etc.

thanks everyone. Got back yesterday. I left my friend in charge of them while I was gone, and five hatched for him. I am now up to 13 with a couple more pipping and 3 other good eggs that haven't started yet. Lots of little charcoals, a few anerys, and a few normals.
