Hatchling question...

So... how long after hatching do they shed? My first little hatchling has been out of the egg maybe 3 hours and its rubbing up against EVERYTHING like its trying to shed its skin already. Is that normal?

Another question... so we have one completely out and he is SO tiny.. but now i have three eggs dimpling and no slits yet... was this little guy/ girl just REALLY early? Has that ever happened to anyone else? Do the really early ones survive?

Mine usually hatch over a period of 2-3 days depending on where they were located in the incubator (warmer ones hatch first). I'm not sure what you classify as small. Baby snakes aren't overly large. Search for pictures here of people holding babies in their hands to see how yours compares.

Do you have a picture?
As long as it's active and appears normal, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

My pictures of the little one aren't very good but I'll post some anyway and hopefully you can get an idea....
