Hatchling, shedding, and time between feeds

New owner and first shed (for us), need some advice!

Our hatchling had been eating every 5 days, f/t pinkies, with no issues. It was pretty easy to tell when it was time to eat again, because he'd be out cruising his viv looking for dinner presumably (though we feed outside the viv). His last feed was on 10/19.

He was due to eat again on 10/24, but he wasn't out looking hungry like usual. We checked on him, found him in his hide, and decided to leave him alone and maybe try again the next night in the hopes that he'd be more hungry. The next night he was still hiding, and his eyes were starting to look murky. Everything I've read said don't feed in blue, so we've left him alone.

Tonight he is still hiding, and still definitely blue. This would make 5 days in blue, 10 days since he last ate, and even if he cleared tonight and shed in 5, that would mean 15 days since his last meal. Is that too long for a baby to go without eating? I really expected him to have cleared and shed by now, but maybe I just misunderstood how long this takes.

I wouldn't worry about 15 days if he is healthy. I'm sure it is because of the shed. I'm sure the eyes will clear any time now. How is your humidity? I like to put a shed box in when I see my snakes in shed. Spraying the viv also helps. After the eyes go clear it will be around 3 days for the shed if humidity is good.

It's fine to wait till after he sheds to feed him. That is what I'd recommend. In nature, he wouldn't be out hunting. My babies always miss one meal when blue (if I catch it!!) and sometimes two.

Just a quick update. The day after I posted his eyes were clear, and there was a nice complete shed in the viv this morning. He wolfed down his pinkie in about 10 seconds flat tonight, so all is well.

I'll try to get a weight on him before we feed on Friday, beginning to wonder if it isn't time to increase what he eats. That pinky was gone amazingly fast, and didn't seem to leave much of a noticeable lump at all.

If he is eating it without any problem, and u notice he has grown a bit to,than u can give a pinky that is a few days older, little bigger than 1 day pinky.
If i dont have a pinky that is bigger, than i just give two 1 day pinky.
Havent had any problems doing this so far.
