Hatchlings fooled me!

I was at a pet shop yesterday (a fairly good one) and saw a tank marked "Hatchling Corn Snakes" that wasn't there last week. I practically ran over and all I could see was a bit of a tail sticking out from under the hide box. It looked grey and black (anerys are UNHEARD of in this area) to me and I almost gave myself a heart attack looking for a clerk to open the display case. When I finally got into the tank and looked closer, they're all normals (reddish closer to the heads but very dark further down) over priced at 165$ each. :( And I'd thought I made a great find! Lol. I'm getting another normal in a week or so (depending on when I get time to make the trip to pick him/her up) and paying 60$ from my breeder instead of 160$ at the pet store!

Just thought I'd share how silly I looked while frantically trying to get into that tank before anyone else found out they were "anerys" ! Lol. :)

The clerk knows me (i'm in there wayyyy to much) and already thinks I'm nuts-o. Lol. He's used to me by now. They had a columbian boa there and I called it my "baby" and used to take her out and walk around the store with her while I was looking at other stuff. Not a full grown boa mind you, she was only 4 feet or so. Really georgeous. They wanted 600$ for it though!

Seriously though, the petstore is a chain (I know, I know but this one isn't TOOO bad) and the clerk I'm talking about is the reptile manager and he's pretty good. He has a few herps (mostly geckos) at home and if he doesn't know anything about the animals he gets sent, he emails me for caresheets. I don't mind helping him out because it's what's best for the animals. He hasn't lost a single herp since he started there. Pretty good for that particular store. They used to be bad. Only thing that's bad now are the prices and he can't control them. Head office dictates prices and they have to live with them. Sometimes if you get him on a good day he'll give ya a break if the animal is the last one or isn't selling well.
