Hatchlings not eating

I have a new clutch of 9 corn snakes. The first two that came out of their eggs have not eaten. They were also the first two to shed. All others snakes have shed and eaten.

I have tried several times. Even opened up the pinky and left in their tub overnight. Nothing.

I read that some hatchlings can reject food and die.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get these two to eat. I now have them in my rack to warm them up more hoping that will help.

BTW, one snake is just afraid of it and the other has grabbed it but dropped pinky right away.

Hi Rob! Welcome! Seems like you're RIGHT on TIME!! (You'll see what I mean real soon!).

But if I were you, when I had a few hours I would scan the threads in this section of the forums and do a search when you're done to read tips and tricks on feeding hatchlings in others, because you are now in an area of corn snake care which is going to test your commitment and probably compel you to demonstrate how far you are willing to go to ensure the best, optimal health & well-being for your little sneaky ones! Sorry for being cryptic and while I was never one to economize on words (if you stick around, you might even SKIP OVER some of my posts due to the length, unless you find them entertaining or informative in some way!), but I am just too pooped out to discuss this particular issue any further tonight (and maybe for the rest of the week!).

All I can say right now (besides for what I already said!) is that PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE!!!!

:-offtopic I'm assuming you mean Dollysmom & Nanci. All I did was probably raise your blood pressure and I'm sorry about that. I just thought it better to say something with some info rather than nothing at all, but I should also practice what I preach (I'm always telling certain folks that if they don't have something good to say, then they shouldn't say nothing at all!). :dunce:

But notice how Dollysmom gave you more qualitative information in one sentence. During wartime, her writing would go for $1000 per character. Mine wouldn't even make it onto a men's room wall!

(Thanx Dollysmom for being a role model whose behavior we should all strive towards, at least those of us who would like to live in a world where the Golden Rule is a core value!!!)

Good luck with your research into feeding stubborn hatchlings! I got a feeling this is not the last communication we will have on this issue, but I do hope I am wrong!

What Axis is trying to say is that he's feeling your pain because he's got eggs in the incubator and he's wearing a hole in the carpet like an expectant father in the waiting room!
 
Thanks for the kind words Axis, but there are different kinds of support and they compliment each other. You are intelligent, funny, open, and honest. That counts for a lot. This community is the better for your being here. Don't stop doing what you do.

And we are all wearing a hole in the carpet in spirit as we wait for your Lilly's eggs to hatch!

Here's to getting little snakes to eat, however we approach it! :cheers:
