had a good clutch of 15 hatch out in early march with only one feeder despite several attempts of different things....warm df,dipped in tuna ,chicken soup, confined space etc etc even tried hot dog juice!!! and gunge from a big garden slug but with no joy, apart from live and force feeding which i am rather reluctant to do,im at a loss, any ideas or suggestions bin about 10 weeks now so its getting desperate, any help appreciatted, the local reptile shop here in the uk suggested raising the temps? its quite high allready probably up around the nineties

Dont keep it too warm for them, try lowering it to the mid-low 80's. Have you tried lizard scenting, or even lizards themselves? Go to the store and pick up a few small anoles.

ok thanks can try lowering the temp,i have heard of lizard scenting,we are a bit behind here in the uk and stuff isnt so readily available, anyone know of a stockist my local shop doesnt!! and when talking to them doesnt have much faith in the either :shrugs:

Does you local store sell anoles? I remember reading that this is often the first prey item for baby corns in the wild...If you can't get lizard scent, see if you can get the lizard itself. Either to feed to the snake or to rub the pinks on it a bit. A local breeder around here kept an anole in a small container inside the feeding container for the snake, the snake took the pinky just from having the lizard smell around. Good luck to you!

Sometimes you need to help

them with a first meal. I had almost an entire clutch who wouldn't eat. I gave a meal through the pinky gun. After that, they fed on their own.

i had trouble with four of my hatchlings out of my second clutch, (last year) i know force feeding sounds grim but if its your last resort then i recommend it.

Don't give up just yet though! like you i tried everything and after 3 months some of them began to eat without having to be force fed.

Your right about reptile shops being behind in England though! everything i was advised to do on this forum was laughted at by my local reptile shop. Needless to say i followed the advise from the people here (not the local know-it-all). unfortunately some hatchlings just won't give though and seem to be happy to be force fed for ages, how do you feel about doing this?

i can't get hold of Anoles either.

Good luck with your babies

A pinky gun is a fancy name for for a fancy syringe that liquefies the pinky and delivers it to the stomach. They are metal with the fancy finger holes and all. And usually expensive.
