Hatchlings on the way.

I've got two hatchlings in the mail, due to be here tomorrow.. and I just want to make sure everything goes ok. I know that normally with new snakes shipped in, you should wait a while before handling. But since these are hatchlings (which I have NO expirience with) I wasn't sure how long I should wait to feed them. Thanks in advance!

Did I mention I am crazy excited!! :crazy02:
(Expect lots of baby pictures soon)

Good luck mate,
I am no expert but i would say it is best leave then alone as much as possiblefor at least 5 days , give them places to hide (it is so difficult no to peek) and make sure they have water available but dont worry about food. Others experienced herpers will no doubt give you full advice, but pictutes and names please when they are settled in... Best wishes

Yeah, I want to give them time to settle in, but I don't want them to be revashingly (is that a word?) hungry straight out of the egg without a meal.

I did the standard leave the hatchlings alone for 3 full days after you recieve it, that means leave it alone, on the 4th day give them a small meal.

Which is another 3 good days for them to digest. Then short periods of handling after that, after three weeks then you can handle the hatchlings more.

Which I have done with my hatchling, so far so good no regurgs, and I don't have a stressed out hatchling.

It gives them time to get used to the new home and also used to you.

Don't worry in the wild snakes go alot longer with out food. I doubt they will be starving to death.

i guess the time for you to feed them depends on their stress level. 3 days is a rule of thumb for leaving them alone, but the rest is really dependant on your little friends :D

don at south mountain told me to feed them 4-6 days after gettin them in the same container they were shipped in and im gettin mine tomorrow also

most breeders wait until their hatchlings have had two feeds prior to shipping.so don't worry your new addations wont be starving.as stated above three-four days settling in period then a small pinky should set them well on their way.good luck and don't worry.

:) [ I don't want them to be revashingly (is that a word?) hungry]

I think you might mean 'ravishingly' hungry or famished

enjoy your babies :)

thank you

Hi again! I got the babies in today. They are from Rich's 50% sale, so from my understanding they haven't eaten yet (that's why I was concerned). Both of them are very actively exploring their cages right now, and it makes me wonder if I should go ahead and feed them.
