alright i have had my corn since it was a sibling he's now well over 4ft and about an inch thick over the tickest part of his body i have him in a 30 gal aquarium he has a good setup plenty of space to roam but for the past month or two he stopped eating i feed him fresh hamsters that i breed and he usually gobbles one up in less than a week but for a while now he has been refusing to eat and i thought it was because he didn't have enough to do in his cage so i began expanding adding a second story to it and even adding more wooden cubby's to hid out in and even put more and more hideouts and stuff so he has plenty to do and plenty space to crawl around in but he doesn't stop moving he seriously moves and tries to escape 24/7 almost as if he hates it in there is he sick or something i change his water weekly keep his cage clean all's he try's to do is escape its like he won't rest i figured he'd grow out of it after a couple weeks at most and start to eat again but its going on 2 mnths he hasnt eaten and 24/7 he looks for a way out of his cage what is going on here any sugestions

It's breeding season for corns. Males tend to fast during this time, and their activity levels are higher than usual because they're looking for a mate. Offer him food every couple of weeks. He'll resume feeding when he's ready. :)

Sounds like your snake is looking for a mate. I'm pretty sure those are the symptons: refusal to eat for a long period of time and always being active. I would not worry about it too much because snakes can go a while without eating. I don't know how you are feeding, but try live prey or braining a f/t (mouse, hamster, etc.) if you are really concerned about him eating.

oh really you know i thought that might be the case because he was brought up with a partner a female for a good portion of his life so he's just lonely ah well im over here stressed out bout his cage not being big enough and him not being able to move round anywhere well thats good to know i actually am feeding him live hamsters fresh one's so i guess when he's ready it just seems like 2 mnths is way to long to not eat but eh alright thanks

Punctuation! Seriously, do they not teach that in school anymore or something? Anyway, I wouldn't worry about it as long as his body condition looks ok. If he is really underweight, then you might have a problem, but if hes a healthy weight, nothing to really worry about.

at what age will they start to get all active like that during breeding season? My male is about 9 months old and he's no more active than normal.

Usually at over 1 1/2 years of age, but I have heard of accidental breedings of pairs that were co-habitated at well under that age.

We've noticed a big difference in activity with our eldest corn snake. He's constantly exploring every corner of the terrarium, digging up his chippings and trying to escape. We asked the woman who supplies our food today and she said that he's probably hungry for something.. I don't think she meant food!! :santa: That's good to know anyway, we were getting worried as he hasn't eaten since his last shed about three weeks ago.

My male snow is constantly out and active even after having been with my female 3 times in the end of March and into April. Last meal was March 19th. I'll offer a mouse again today, but think it'll end up going to the backyard hawk again.

It most likely becuse of breeding season my 3 year old male almost never hides and is out all day and night cruising around his tank but he eats just fine, your snkae will eat when its hungary!
