I know, i'm just chock' full of questions. But I rather ask than be uneducated about things. Remi, great good I got a pinkie head in him satuday. -But- since before than... he'd stopped eating a while... (a month) and his 'skin' started to get 'wrinkly' or what not. I read it was from either not drinking or not eating.

Well He drinks every night. I watch him -constantly-; I know... I cant help it, I love him lol :( but, I'm wondering if theres anything else I can do for him? To help him along? I do assume its from not eating because, he drinks -often-. Though recently (since before I force fed him) He had't been as active as usual... and since then he hardly moved around. I kinda -nudged- him over to the water to make him drink... he yawned a whole bunch... I knew he was awake but just not... 'up and about'. How often should I try to feed him now?

I'm still worried he's not 'okay' but im a worrier. Anything else I can do to give him a boost?

well

check the temps ,,,,
82-85 on the hot side with a hidehouse
70 on the cold side with another hidehouse

how old is he/she if you dont know ..

how big is he(size in inches please).

is he eating alone now?

wrinkles might mean extra skin(little fat) it happened to me. you might wanna feed him a bit more.

The temp is fine... he's all of about 12 inches and no... he doesnt eat alone. As I said I only recently got him to eat a pinky head (very small and force fed)...

oh well umm

oke look .

1,you get an anole from your garden or anyplace near. and rub it all over the pinkie. and leave the pinkie and the snake in a small container overnight

2, you can get a whole pinkie,,get something sharp and put it through the pinkie's head.therefore the "brain material" will be all around and the snake could smell it. leave the pinkie and the snake in a small container overnight

3.try and put the pinkie in the snake's hidehouse. dont give up too fast.

if that doesnt work keep on force feeding.

it will get used to eating alone. if you can force feed a pinkie's head that means you can force feed the other part of the pinkie to. just dont give up.

oh btw did you try live pinkies?

Your observations are good about the condition of the animal. It's good that you saw him drinking. His lack of activity and loose skin (due to loss of weight) are important warning signs. I read your other post about force feeding so I know you were able to get the pinkie head fed to him. All you can do now is watch and see that he keeps his meal down. I would try to feed him again in about 5 days. Always offer a meal unassisted before assist feeding again. As I'm sure some here will tell you this routine can go on for months:) Lizard scenting is a good idea for some hatchlings because they don't always see pinkies as food. For wild Corns lizards are natural first foods. Some babies just hatch out preferring lizards and won't take anything else at first. I really hope everything works out and you get him feeding:)

yeah

I agree with all Alicias advice. Always offer to let him eat on his own first. And try about every 5 days to 7 days.

You can also try assist/force feeding him the entire pinkie although I would put that off another feeding :) But it most likely won't harm him.

awww

I am so sorry. At this point one could assume he had other health issues that were factoring in with him not eating. Although unlucky, and sad...I hope you do get another cornsnake as not all non-feeders turn out like this.

I am so sorry.

I know how sad you must be, but bmm is right...not all non-feeders turn out this way. I really wish you luck with your next baby.

Some just weren't meant to make it...I'm sorry for your loss. It sounds like you took really good care of him and everything, so I'm sure you'll do a great job with another corn.

I'm so sorry.
I don't understand why some hatchlings seem determined to starve themselves.
It also really scares me, my own non-feeder is in in about the same shape as yours was and received her first force feeding two weeks ago.
You did all you could to get Remi to live.
You have my deepest sympathies.

yes

And most of the time, assisted feeding or force feeding ends up saving the snake, and they recover quite quickly. So hopefully you will get another snake and it will be 100% healthy!

Hey everyone I appreciate you guys being sympathetic. Heh... I kinda never figured I'd cry over a snake before. I mean I've always wanted to keep them, but never had the chance until recently. It's sad to want something so bad for so long, get it and loose it soon after. However, I did just pay for one of Herp_Lover's ghost babies, she said their -really- good eaters. So... I'm looking forward to this you know? Still seriously broken hearted over Remi though... :( but heres my chance you know? Hopefully, everything will work out okay this time. Thanks for all your help anyway guys and your encouraging me to get another.
