Heat lamp or under the tank heater

A heat lamp is perfectly OK as long as it on the outside of the viv. If you have the oppurtunity to get a viv' that you are really happy with, then get it. Most times even novice herpers do alot better when they are happy and proud of their setups.

Hi Robert.
I use an undertank heater on all my tanks. They work well and you can have one side warm and the other side cooler.Thats what the snake neds to regulate its body temp. Use one with a thermostat or setup one with a rheostat.Either way it is best to have one side of the tank's floor/substrate warm 85deg F . Snakes spend most of their time on the floor.Use the search featue (the button wau up top there) and check out some of the threads. The answers to most questions can befound soing a search .
Good luck with your new snake.
Search for topics on rheostats or thermostast or undertank heaters and even on tanks . Some real good threads to read on all subjects.
