heat lamp placement

i have a heatlamp on a 10g tank and currently only have 1 hide. should i have the lamp on the water side or hide side? or in the middle. any suggestions on small household items to use as a second hide?

I wouldn't use a heat lamp at all, especially on a ten gallon Viv. Use a under tank heater instead for belly heat. Sold at most pet stores. Which is helpful for digestion of there food. And yes use another hide. It can be a use but clean food box (cardboard) or anything like that.
 
I agree with Lenny. A small 10g can easily become overheated with a lamp. Try an under tank heater. As far as your viv, put the water away from the lamp and have hides on both the hot and cool side. Your snake will choose which one he wants to use. I imagine your dealing with a smaller corn, so try using a TP roll, cardboard box, etc. I'm sure if you look around, you'll find something.
