yes i use a heat lamp not the heat pad,i was wondering if there set times i should have it on,from sun up to sundown?...juss not sure..

I have used a heat lamp. I used the 12/12 method. That is twelve on and twelve off. But, the sun up to sun down method should be ok. Try to not let the night temps to dip below 70 degrees F.

I don't use heat lamps any more because UTH's are better. Heat lamps do dry out the tank quite a bit and can cause shedding issues.

To my knowledge the only heat a corn needs is a UTH. The heat lamps as someone mentioned dry the tank out terribly not to mention they benefit greatly from the belly heat since they are more of a ground dwelling snake. A heat lamp isn't going to heat the surface they are actually on and is providing top heat which they don't need. I would ditch the lamp and get a UTH with a rheostat or heat tape for the bottom of the tank.
