heat tape questions

If you do a search on Youtube, you will come up with several "How to" videos for flexwatt. This my help you out.

Had an electrician out, there is a leak in a wall right on an outlet! The load of adding the flexwatt caused the short caused by the water damage to show itself. The guy also does some other handyman stuff so they are paying him to fix that too. I also looked at the directions I got for wiring the flexwatt, silly me forgot to turn it over! I DID wire it wrong. I will fix it and try it out with the wiring done right.

Yep...that's what hubbys said. He said you have a short somewhere & when you tripped the fuse, you could very well have heated the wires (in the wall) up to the point of welding together, causing another blown fuse, etc. (Eventually, that fused section of wire would catch insulation or the wall on fire!)
He said if you don't get an electrician out to look at it, you're going to burn your house down...so I'm SO glad you got one out there!

Good luck!

Yeah, the short was luckily INSIDE the damaged outlet and it was replaced this afternoon. Fires are BAD (unless propperly done in a GOOD fireplace or woodstove!)!!!!
Hubby just got home so I can get the electric tape from the car to finish up. Then a test run, fingers crossed!
