Is a globe and a heatpad both neccesities in a viv? And where do I place the thermometers to accurately measure the viv's temperature?

When you do have a globe , should it be covered to protect the snake from possibly burning itself ?

By globe I assume you are referring to a light bulb....

Both a light and a heat pad should not be necessary in order to maintain the temperature at ~82 degrees F. The temperature should be measured on the surface of the substrate on the warm end of the tank.

The light shouldn't be close enough for the snake to touch. If it can reach it then it will ultimately touch it and burns are likely to occur. The best solution is to place the approved heat source under the tank as opposed to in the tank. This will protect the animal from exposed heat sources.
