heating 15 cages how to

gail100

HI all, I need advice on heating multiple cages. I have 15 20 gal tanks. The room temperature runs a stable 73 to 78 degrees. I use heat lamps during the day. I am worrie ill start the house on fire with all those lights! Snakes are doing well, eat well and shed well but I think there must be a safer way. Please help!

Are they all in one room? I have my snakes all heated with a radiant heater from wal Mart. Keeps the room nice and toasty around 82-86 degrees depending on how high it is set and how high the temp is in the house.
No need for extra heating on most of the caging.

I would think the winter temps get pretty cold there. It gets into the low teens here in Northern Arizona and we have to suppliment the heat mats with oil heaters.
These heaters are electric, oil filled and very safe.
The main drawback is with Six of these heaters running for about Three Months it's expensive keeping my snakes warm.

Yes, very cold in winter but aroung 80 to 100 in summer. Do you think I should only run lights in winter?

Six heaters? o.o
I only have one of those heaters in the room and trust me it keeps it just fine and dandy out here. Lakewood isn't going to be much colder than the springs.

I use one that is similar to this... (image from walmart.com)

Ok so if the room is heated fine then i do not need lights? Just want to be sure what your saying and thank you for the help!

I don't use lights for any of my snakes..
The only animals that have any additional heat (for the most part)
are my lizard, boa, and ball. But I could just boost the heat up for the boa and ball if I wanted and not use their UTHs at all. I don't know anyone with a bunch of snakes out here, whether it be greeley, denver, foco, pueblo, and westcliffe who uses anything other than just a warm room.
