I know as a general rule UTH are used in viv's. However I have a question on whether the location of the heat source matters?

Basically I have designed a multi-level viv shelf unit thingy that I hope to build. However what has me at a standstill is how to properly heat the individual vivs.

My first thought was to use heat tape on the back on one side all the way down heating one side of each viv. However I was unsure if this method of heating would warm the viv in the same kind of way a UTH would.

Any input or ideas would be greatly appreciated. :wavey:
 
A lot of rack systems use heat tape on the back to warm the viv. I'm sure this would work fine although I prefer belly heat, there's plenty of people out there heating the backs or just warming the snake room to the 80's.
 
That would work great. You only want to heat one end anyway. They need a cooler area.
