im curently working on setting up a rack system but im have trouble deciding whether to use heat rope or heat tape
i have limited outletsin the location so im leaning toward heat rope are there any other alternatives?

What are you planning on using for controlling and monitoring the heat levels? Thermostat, rheostat? How many cages are you trying to heat and what are the desired temps?

I built a rack a few months ago. I used a router to cut out the area for the heat rope to lay. It works awesome! If you use heat rope you need the rope to be recessed, otherwise when you pull out a tub it will roll up on you. It is much more inexpensive than the tape would have been. The cheapest place was actually petco.com. Also the first several feet is dead with no feet so get a long piece. I had to use two different cords for mine and I used the zilla thermostat, it has worked perfect thus far.
