Heating up mice with hot water?

LOL those defrosters are for people who buy pets on a whim and haven't done the research. By the time they figure out the way we all pretty much do it they have lost the receipt.
 
Make your own mouse thawer! I simply took a medium height deli cup and lid and cut a small hole in the lid about the size of a quarter (or about 1" diameter)
pop in your pinkies
sit the cup in the sink and turn on the hot water running it directly into the hole
the pinkies tumble over and over in the hot water getting all nice and warm and thawed...
5 min later theyre ready to eat. I pour out most of the water (leaving a bit there to keep them warm and then just take one out and papertowel it and feed and it works well!
 
I just put them in some warm water until they are all warm and soft lol. I did notice when I was feeding pinks that you can cook the skin if the water is too hot.
 
I usually thaw my mice by placing them on a plastic plate then popping it on a radiator, this makes the mice nice and warm.
 
I throw a pinkie into a cup and fill it with the hottest tap I can get. it gets it a bit warm and once it's thawed, the moose get put under my hairdryer. ^^;;
 
I guess I'm strange like Dale! :spinner: I put pinkies, fuzzies, and hoppers in my pocket to defrost. Anything larger gets defrosted in hot tap water.
 
i have been told that it is acceptable to thaw them in hot water and its best for people who otherwise dont have the room i can put 100 of them in the fridge and use as needed no muss no fuss and the cat isnt any wiser lol bang bang peace out

They'd go off quite quickly in a fridge, most people store them in the freezer and thaw only what's needed that day:shrugs:
 
I'm far from being the most experienced at this but I just use an empty water bottle filled with hot water.once the water feels to be at "body" temp. I dump it out and feed!!!

Oh... oh... no! Say it isn't so :laugh01:

I rarely thaw in hot water. It's my evening routine to go in the kitchen after work and check the feed schedule. I take out what I'm feeding and put it in the snake room. Then I make dinner, do a few chores, clean up, make some tea and wa-la everything is defrosted and *not* slimy.

As long as I don't mix it up, it's golden. Every now and again I do something silly. Like when my daughter and I were making chocolate covered pretzels for Christmas. She went to take a shower and I "dipped" two pinkies and laid them out ... she was LIVID... screamed and threw em out before I could get a pic of them laying neatly next to the pretzels.... hehehe. good times, good times....
