Hello All! Newbie here with 2 rescuees.

Lol, ok, thanks. I think I still have a kitchen scale around here somewhere from one of my past diet kicks. That sounds about right based on what I know of these two. Jeff had them since the end of August, and I don't know how long the other boy had them.

Hah, that's my name. Jeff. You might want to exchange that thermometer for a digital one with a probe. Analog thermometers kinda suck. They measure ambient temperature, but you need to find out what temperature the snakes are getting via the probe.

That is the thermometer that came home with them. So where would I put the probe? Down in the aspen? I will probably be making an order from amazon, once I figure out what all else I need to finish my setup. Petco is crazy expensive! I may need to wait on another payday too! lol I just want to make sure that I take good care of these little guys. I've only had them a day and I'm already in love! BTW Destarte, I was looking at one of your threads, and your babies are beautiful!

Thank you for the compliment! They are gorgeous. I'm totally in love with them. If you have any reptile expos, you'll get your best deals there. Last show had 20g longs for like $10, I got a nice size UTH for only $15. The probe would be on top of the glass, under the aspen. And I'm glad you went with aspen instead of repti-bark. The aspen encourages their natural burrowing behavior. Being that you've only had them a day. Please give them about a week before you handle them again. It's very stressful being in a new environment. Just give them time to acclimate.

I have separated my babies. I was going to just divide the one tank I have for now, but I came across a great sale on tanks when I went into petco for fish supplies, so I just went ahead and bought the second tank. I got UTHs and thermostats for each tank, and I bought a nice metal shelf for them to live on. I never intended to spent quite this much money on my "rescues" but I adore them and I want them to have the best. :) At least I shouldn't have to invest too much more into it for now. I am really happy with how everything has turned out. Thank you to everyone who gave me advice.
