Hello Everyone!

I am really excited to have found this forum. I have always been interested in reptiles and especially snakes, but that might be because my mom is deathly terrified of them. (It seems one is most interested in what they can't have then what they can have :D). I am employed at the local science museum for kids of all ages (Don Harrington Discovery Center). and that is where I have first really had any contact with snakes and after working there for close to two years I am so ready to own a Corn Snake of my own :D.

Any help to any question that I might have is going to be very appreciated. Just going to warn you now I Love Help :D

#1 piece of advice......... Read Kathy Love's book, Cornsnake Manual... it will give you a great foundation for a successful cornsnake ownership....

#2 piece of advice.... you might not want to hang out around here come hatching season unless you want to bleed your checking account dry... or have lots of willpower to resist cute faces :D
 
*Chuckling Loudly* I know I was looking on SerpenCo.com and found what I think to be to be two very cute looking corns. The first one was the Charcoal but then i saw the "Silver Queen Ghost" and I almost bought it out of impulse it was so cute. Unfortunately I don't get paid for a week so I have to be strong and wait ;).
 
Howdy and welcome to the site, Im from South Texas, but ill be traveling through Amarillo Friday morning on my way to Stratford. Some buddies and I are chasing some pheasants up there this weekend.
 
Doug, have you every been by Fish Pros? If not they carry corns, cages, food, heaters, etc. Everything you will need once you purchase your corn. I also agree that you should get Kathy Love's book and read it cover to cover. South Mountain Reptiles also has a good book out.

We use the corn snake (Albino Corn) we have there as a way to inform people more about snakes and to help them to have more concrete facts about snakes. It is also a great way to introduce albinism to people if they haven't heard of it before.

But welcome to the forum! Can't wait to see what kind of corn you decide to get :0) It's great you teach kids about nature and reptiles :0) I also think you should get Kathy Love's book..She is a very respected woman in this forum and really knows her stuff..If ya ever have any questions never be shy to ask them..All the members on here are very nice and always willing to share their knowledge :0)

Welcome fellow Texan!!! And warning cornsnakes are very addicting, you can't have just one. Check out Kjun's and South Mountain's cornsnakes they are also fellow Texan's and they have excellent cornsnakes!
