Hello, my daughter has a 9 week old baby corn snake but he won't eat. We take him to our snake expert vets once a week for an assist feed of a tail but still no joy. We have brained the pinkie, we have warmed the pinkie and we have dipped the pinkie in chicken stock but still he won't eat. Help! We don't know what else to do. He has already had 9 assist feeds

I am very sorry that is happening. Have you talked to the vet about other feeding options. I don't have any experience with problem feeders but I have read some about it on this forum. I know that there is one technique where people "scent" the mice with either anoles or soap. You could try searching for that.

If you scroll down in this care sheet a little bit, there is a section written by Kathy Love (very well regarded as corn snake expert) about non-feeder babies. Hopefully this will help you.

I can't add to the good advice you have gotten, but I can welcome you to the forum. I hope your little one starts eating for you soon. Best wishes.

I wouldn't usually recommend this, but have you tried a live pinkie? Sometimes that, the snake and into a small paper bag closed up tight and left alone for a few hours. I'd try it as a last resort.

Hey guys, since last post I have been in contact with a local rescue centre and he has agreed to take over the care of our little man for us. My daughter just cannot do it any longer emotionally. He has also offered to give her a slightly older corn snake to keep, he doesn't want her to lose her love of corns.

I am sorry you had to give up the snake but I am glad it sounds like the snake has a good chance at a happy ending. I really hope everything goes well with your new snakie for your daughter - they really are amazing creatures!
