HELP! Baby Corn Escaped Secure Cage!

HELP! 3 days ago my baby corn snake escaped. It has been 1 week and 1 day since he was last fed. I have looked all over my room and my entire house with no luck so far. I am starting to try some trapping methods.

I bought about 10 frozen pinkies today and one very small live mouse. I have the live mouse set up in a clear cage with alot of ventilation in hopes of getting the smell out to entice my snake. I am assuming he will be fairly hungry, not having eaten for about a week. Tonight, i am going to place warm pinkies in two litre bottles as suggested by various resources.

I am very anxious and want to find my snake as soon as possible. Any suggestions to help me find him? Anything would be appreciated.
 
I'm pretty new here and I don't have a cornsnake, but I have been doing alot of reading in the forums, so don't take my suggestions too seriously. I think you should check in warm places like your laundry and heat generating areas. Also, you should lay flour around your house so you can see if the snake has been in that area recently, and he/she might leave a trail. You should also check around the cage and in the area the cage was in, such as creases and below things. I'll post if I find more resources. Good luck on finding your baby snake.

:-offtopic This is kind of off topic, but it seems like alot of people in these forums talk about how they lost their snake in an escape proof cage, how does the snake escape if the container is escape proof? By handling it? Or finding a hole in the cage? It boggles my mind, but thats probably because I don't have a corn.lol.
 
i would look in areas of your house that are warm. under the washer or dryer
also others have said that they do not stay in one place so u may have to look in the same places over and over. I am no sure if this would work, but maby if u provide like a heat lamp, with red bulb around the food, he may sense the food more quickly. just an suggestion. good luck. i hope u find him
 
thank you. I have his cage set up with the light and all. Then i have a live mouse in a cage to attract his attention. Then i have a pinkie in a bottle and a good hiding place for him. I will check the setup tomarow.

I am hoping the heat from the cage will attract him, along with the smell of the live mouse. Then i am hoping he eats the pinky and holes up in the bottle until i can get him.

At least i am hoping for him to get something to eat, so at least i know hes okay and that he isnt hungry.
 
If you have any spare UTH's you could spot them about maybe under a sheet or rags. Best keeping it close to the wall & hopefully he'll find them a good spot to hole up........... :santa:

This happens because people underestimate a corn's ability to escape. People joke that they are Houdinis, and that escapes are inevitable. But corns can't deny the laws of physics, nor are they really crafty. They're simply creatures perfectly shaped to capitalize on the escape opportunities we provide. :(

That's why we have one of those neato sliding lock cages. Not only can you not open it by pushing up it has a little tab where the bottom of the cage meets the top so you can loop a bread tie through it. now unless he busts strait through the wire mesh I'm good.

Though I would have to give him props if he went the mesh route (then I would be getting a nifty sliding glass cage:D)

I just got one of those today. :) Im hoping it will work well! I have read alot of things saying how much better tanks with sliding tops are.
