Thanks for helping me .... :)

I hope I get help with the first one ... but it really doesn't look like a normal to me .... :)

To hazard a guess on #1, I'd wager it's either an emoryi rat, or perhaps a rootbeer corn. Or it could be a Kisatchie. I'm not familiar with any pure cornsnakes that are that particular shade of brown... Anyone else have thoughts?

-Kat

1. Doesn't look like a "rootbeer" corn to me and a little to brown for an emoryi I was thinking kisatchie at first but now that i look at it more it looks like a 75% emory/25%corn or 50%Kisatchie/50% Emoyi or it just might be a full Kisatchie but dont i cant tell for certain because I do not really know that much about emoryi ot kisatchie but to me the saddles are definitely emoryi or kisatchie.
2. Is a miami
And 3. looks like a normal to me but I am NOT certain

The color of that first one is pure Kisatchie, but the head pattern is alittle off, in my opinion. Of course, Kisatchies have not been extensively bred in captivity yet, so there may be a great deal more variability in their patterns than I know. However, I bought two K corns last year and traded them off. That color is identicle to what they had.

Okay !!

Thanks for the help !! I'm about to buy these corns, but i'm not really sure yet :) I'll pay 70 USdollars for both of the adults or 35 USdollars each .....

Kisatchies ?? What are they het. for ?? This is a new type for me ... never heard of it before ... :)

So it would be cool if it is a kisatchie :)

GRRRRRRRR

i thought i was good, i thought i was smart, i thought i was the only one who knew it was a Kisatchie:( but when i scrolled down further i saw others said so too....

looks like a...
KISATCHIE
...to me

Its a rootbeer

Here is a pic of a 75% corn cream X a 50/50 rootbeer(corn X emoryi) They produce nice rootbeer normals and nice creams.

You corn in #1 is a rootbeer.
Luke

It's possible that the animal is a rootbeer, but since the Kisatchie corn is, IMHO, likely a naturally occurring intergrade between Panterophis guttata emoryi and Pantherophis guttata guttata, which is the same combination that produced creamsicles and rootbeer corns in the captive arena, I would think that distinguishing between the two of them from one picture would be difficult to do in many cases.

Hey Darin,

I was under the impression that the same research that labeled cornsnakes, etc. as being part of Panterophis also dubbed Kisatchies as their own subspecies, Panterophis guttata slowenskii or something like that. If yer gonna use the new genus names, may as well use the rest of the new classification. ;)

I know . . .you're right, Kat. I just hate it that they named the Kisatchie corns P.g.slowinskii!

I mean no disrespect to the late Dr. Slowinski, but the argumentation for Slowinski corns to be their own subspecies seemed dubious to me. I guess I'm just biased, but it seems to me that the researchers were more interested in naming something after their fallen comrade than they were in getting the actual taxonomy correct.

:(

Oh naive Darin,

If they were "just another ratsnake" then the guy I saw at a local show last weekend couldn't possibly charge $125 for a $15 hatchling. :D

(yeah, I about fell over laughing)

$125 for a Kisatchie hatchling? (gulp)

I traded two HUGE females for a bloodred male and a banded motley female. Should I feel ripped-off?

NO!

But whoever actually paid that much for those hatchlings at your local show sure should! That's a real shame . . .

Now I am confused:confused: because my first female looks really close to yours here is a pic tell me what you think. I have always referred to her as normal phase.
