Help, eaten pinkies

Ok my mouse has given birth to her second litter but have just found 4 pinkies dead 2 half eaten the prob is I dont know who has eaten them, she is in a cage with another female and a male I have removed them and she seems to be wondering round looking for them which makes me wonder whether it was her or not.


I have looked at her and she still seems to have a bit of a bulge on her back I am at a dilema as to what to do with them now, my other girls which ok are a bit more experienced seem to have no problems and live together nicely, the problem is these are my nice fancy mice and struggled to get them in the first place.

Any advice would be grateful. She is getting closer to be fed off.
 
Is this her first litter? It's relatively common for them to eat their first litter, and she may do fine with any later litters.

Make sure your pregnant and nursing females have plenty of protein, perhaps a senior dog food around 20-23% protein if you can't get a good lab block. Sometimes eating a litter can be a symptom of a deficient diet, or overcrowding.
 
When I kept my mice in trios I got predation of pinkies from the other female if she was nursing, perhaps as a protein snack or as population control. I've had a lot less pinky eating since I switched to keeping the breeders as pairs.
 
yes well I have since decided to take the two fancy ones out and out them on their own in my daughters room as she want them and they are cute a black and white, and a brown and white so hopefully they will do better on their own the other one will go in with my other more experienced female and see how she gets on if not she will have to be snake food.

I have about 30 mice all waiting to be fed ranging from 4-10 weeks and only 2 adult snakes think I need my partner to make me a CO2 chamber to dwindle them down a bit.
 
yes just a bit, I am going to wait for them all to get to a nice size for my corns then going to kill them off :boring:
 
Not having much luck at all with any of my mice, I have another big vivarium with some pregnant females both older mice and upto now they have been having litters no problems anyway when I checked her litter yesterday as they are now 6 days old I found one had disappeared only leaving 2 but this morning I found the other 2 dead as well half eaten.

This is very strange for this mum she is usually the ideal mum, I did take the male out and one of the old females (she is past breeding now) as I wont to introduce some younger stock.

All my mice are in my outside utility room and the other day my dog caught a rat out there do you think there maybe a rat scaring them.
