ok so my snake is great, he is eating and he shed last week. i noticed like a cm of his tail was dirty with something, i think crap, so i took him to the bathroom andput him in warm water and it came right off. then i look and the tip is RED!!!!!!!! i think that pice broke of!!!!!! im freaking out! he didnt even notice!
HELP IM ABOUT TO CRY I FEEL SO BAD FOR HIM!

ive tried, but the tip is to small for it to show at all. ive been looking at it, is it possible that when i pulled off the crap that was on it, it ripped the scale of that one end?

Probably he had one or more retained sheds on his tail tip. Causing it to lose circulation and die. And turn black. So it fell off. There was nothing you could do to prevent it, and now you don't have to worry about stuck sheds on his tail any more. But still check. You can dab antibiotic ointment on it. He will be fine.

I agree with them, I've had that happen with some of my corn snakes and now I check each shed if there is retained shed part on the tail.

I accidentally closed a lid on the tippty tip of Cyrus' tail when he was really small. It dried up and fell off. Bothered me waaaaay more then it bothered him!

Nanci is probably right (typical), always listen to what she may answer to your questions. From now on after a shed take the little guy out and check his eye caps and his tail and make sure it all comes off.

Good Luck!
