Help! I ripped off my snake from tape!

Hello.. I'm new in the forums and my first thread is about my baby corn snake getting stuck on scotch tape. I feel very stressed seeing him injured and need some advice. :(

I'm really worried right now because a thin layer of his scale came off, with his colors too. The scar don't seem that bad, he still cruised around the viv right after and soaking himself in the tub. A scar on his head seems less worse, because it just seems brighter and it still retains the same color. But the other scar is a little bit pinkish and red. I soaked him in warm water and tried applied betadine with q tips. I feel really bad, he's my first baby snake and he's just so cute! I know I should've known better for using tape but I really didn't expect it to peel his skin off. I probably have to take him to the vet. What do you think?

You really can't do much except wait for his next shed. He'll be fine if all he lost were some scales.

I've seen this happen once or twice and they're usually fine. If he's acting normally, that's a good sign.

If it happens again my friend and I had really good luck using olive oil (or was it vegetable oil?) to get her snake free of duct tape. You peel it back just a little, apply a few drops and sort of rub it in where the tape joins the snake on the sticky side. I remember it easing right off; I guess because it creates a barrier between the two.

Thanks for the replies guys! He seems fine and all but I noticed that he doesn't slither smoothly on glass or on his ceramic water bowl, but not on the substrate. Maybe he's shedding? Cuz his skin is a lil bit milky..

I handled him earlier and he didn't move smoothly on my palms too becoz i was kinda sweaty. Any suggestions to help with sweaty palms? Haha

Oh and yeah I read about using oil, so I soaked him olive oil for a few minutes to make sure the adhesive is all gone. Oh and I placed some wet moss in his viv too to help the shedding.. Am I doing it right?

Anyone reply please? I tried feeding him a pinkie today but he won't eat it.. Should I wait a week before trying again? And maybe its because I handled him before I tried feeding him? Answer pls?? I'm such a noob

If he is looking kind of dull and milky, it sounds like he is starting his shed process. Just leave him alone for a week and see if he gets even more dull. Don't feed him until after he sheds.

No advice on the sweaty palms! :D
