Help: is this gangrene?

About 6 months ago my corn stopped eating. When she did eat she regurgitated her meal. I thought I had just given her too big of prey (even tough she had eaten that size before). So I waited a week and a half and offered her another meal, again she regurgitated it. I waited a week and she refused to eat. I decided to wait two weeks and offered her a very small rat. She ate it and again regurgitated it. She used to be very plump and maybe a bit overweight so she had a bit of backup weight. Well then she just stopped eating. I was worried about her so I put her in quartien and watched her closely.

I have been very sick for the last 2 weeks. Two weeks ago I made sure she had water and a clean cage. Then a few days after I peeked in and she still had water and a clean cage. Well Tue I got out of the hospital and yesterday checked on her and was horrified at what I saw. Her bedding was soaked in what looked like greenish liquid. I cleaned her cage and that is when I saw her tail. OMG it looks like her tail is rotting off. Can anyone help me and tell me what is going on? Here are a few photos :(

I was going to wait till friday, but I finaly found a vet that specializes in snakes but he was full until tomorrow. Can anyone help me? I called the ER vet in town and they said they didn't know much about snakes :( HELP!!!

Just keep her clean and comfortable until she gets to the vet. In view of the repeated regurges I'd suggest a fecal test too

Well the skin came off and looks normal, however she still has no use of her tail. Do you think it is still tail rot? I could not get the links to come up.:awcrap:

It looks like there may have been some sort of stricture immediately above where the bad part of the tail starts. Is there any chance she may have gotten stuck someplace in her viv where the circulation could have been cut off? I use tubs to house my snakes in and had a couple of one particular model and had 2 snakes literally get stuck where the end handles were. Snakes don't back up when they get stuck, just keep trying to go forward. One snake was already dead when I found him (it was during brumation so I don't check them as frequently), and the other male was a newer addition that was still in quarantine while being brumated so I saw him more frequently. He was still alive, but from where he was stuck, about mid-way, he had no feeling and the flesh was literally dead, just not at the rotting stage quite yet. The flesh on the already dead male past where he was stuck looked similar to what your snake showed. I euthanized the live male immediately and got rid of all of that type of tub just as quick.

I am very sorry for your loss and hope you are able to find the exact cause of the problem. If you are interested, I have a handsome adult partial aztec male with minimal black you may have for the price of shipping.

Thank you.

Susan, Thank you very much. I didn't take her in for a neurocropsy (sp?) It was all so sudden. She was my only female corn and I will miss her dearly. She was such a puppy dog, loved to be held and loved to swim in the tub.

Susan, Thank you for the offer. It really means a lot to me, but I will have to pass.

I still look in her cage and expect to see her.

Thank you again for all your support. It means a lot to me. It took me awhile to get back to you as it is hard because I miss her so much.

Hey, just wanted to send my consolations (spelling?) and tell you that I hope you feel better soon. If it helps then it sounds like you really did the best you could, booking an appointment at the vet immediately and keeping an eye on the corn. I hope that you get better soon too (you said you'd been in hospital) and hope you have a speedy recovery.

Also...

Susan that is so sweet of you! What a lovely person :)
