Hmm I don't keep sheds. But as Meg stated yes it is hard to tell when they are ready. But if your on a good schedule with feeding etc.. I keep feeding and shedding cards that help me keep up with my herps.

They seem to do it around the same time, so you can figure when they are in the shedding phase.

My amel has bit me several times, I did not realize he was doing it til I look down and saw him, with his mouth on me. :) He is also a hatchling too, and I know it takes them a while to get used to handling.
 
yeah, i don't care if he bites me, but if he bites 1 of my kids, my wife will MAKE me get rid of it. i'm not gonna let the kids hold him tho. they can hold the baby snow corn instead. he doesn't bite.
