ok.....we brought our corn four weeks ago she shed three weeks ago and ate the day after but hasnt ate since....we were becoming worried thinking something was wrong with her, until today when we returned home and she had laid an egg!!
i phoned the reptile shop where we brought her from and she gave me some advice what to put the eggs in but any more info regarding how long the incubation period is ect would be great ........... talk about bein thrown in the deep end lol haha:eek1:

There are a lot of breeders here that can give you information. That would be a big shock.

How big is she? If she is to small it is bad if she is gravid and laying. Also call the pet shop and see if she was housed with a male? If she laid one egg there most likely is more eggs inside of her and if they dont come out it can be bad. You should post some pics of her so we can see if she looks like she is eggbound. Good Luck

If you're a new keeper, I'd strongly advise against incubating any eggs. Taking care of a laying/post-laying female is going to be enough stress, without dealing with hatchlings from a standing start.

If you do decide to incubate, then make sure now that you can sell the hatchlings where you are (free rehomes tend not to work, as people volunteer in advance then tend to get cold feet once the eggs hatch). The market for Corns has slowed down a lot over the last couple of years in the UK - I sold my last 4 from 2009, only a few weeks ago. They cost far more to feed than I sold them for.

Also, the eggs you get may be infertile, so it's not necessarily a done deal that you'll end up with hatchlings.

The eggs may not be fertile, and I too would recommend not incubating. There is no need to go through that unless you have a longing for more corns.

Pics would help us to advise you more, pics of the egg and the female. Breeding does take planning and preparation, but since this was unexpected it really is your choice what to do.
