HELP!!! rogue looks pale!!

Glock23

SMR SG Corn Snake "Rogue"
he's lost all his color and doesn't look like the same snake! I don't have any batterys for a picture but he's REALLY pale looking whats going on?

shed? or what?

more then likely it's a shed...Maize's colors dull right before she sheds..and then during her shed her colors real go pale..so my guess is it is more then likely Rogue shedding..

A snake sheds about once a month as it is growing its first year or two. As snakes bodies prepare to shed a milky substance develops between the old skin and the new one. This causes the snakes get opaque and dull and their eyes often turn blueish or gray as well because they are essentially blind at that time. After 4-7 days they clear up some then within a few days they will shed.

During this time that he is pre-shed it would help to have some extra humidity to aid in preparing the skin to shed in one peice as it should...like misting the cage each day or putting him in moist hide ( a tupperware container filled with a damp washcloth or damp moss or damp papertowels, etc ) .

When he does shed you want to check him afterwards and make sure all the extra skin came off , especially from his eyes and the tip of his tail.

I hope this information helps.

Regards

Agree with the others - congrats on coming up to your first shed!

Let us know how it goes. I always find the first shed with a new Corn a bit nerve-wracking, even after all these years. You can never be sure quite how it's going to pan out - hopefully yours will be nice and trouble-free.

Expect him to be more nervous than usual (he won't be able to see as his eye-caps are lifting due to the shed) and avoid handling if you can.

As Dawn says, he will go back to his normal colour for a day or two before the actual shed - be ready for this little trick!

Hello, yea I have to agree with the others, my snake also goes pale instead of blue, below are some pictures, one of Damien's normal color, and one of him a while ago in shed..
