ahh...

I'd imagine the hemp substrate is refined a bit more that say raw hemp material.

Well being a fiber it can be made into many things. I imagine the substrate would be pretty scratchy.
 
I couldn't imagine snake skin to be near as sensitive as some human skin is. Afterall, we keep them on aspen, astroturf, coconut fiber, newspaper, etc.

Btw, I have seen hemp garments made that were as soft as cotton and/or silk.

All depends on how much they want to put into the refining of it.

Its not fibrous really, its a light chipped material and it makes this quaint "clinking" sound when you pick up a handfull and then slowly release it to fall on the other bedding.

To me, it resembles straw that's been finely ground up, only not near as dusty or brittle. If that makes sense. =P

Hemp clothing is amazing for wear and tear, not to mention comfort. The more "used" it is, the softer (and seemingly more durable) it becomes. I've wanted a pair of hemp jeans for years, but I can't seem to find a pair in my price range.

Definitely worth the price though. Hemp clothes will likely outlast you. lol

Most of the stuff I make with it are jewlery or scrapbooking type crafts... though I have used it to knit.

That's sort of how I imagined it to be. Just very dry (scratchy).
