For the next 7-8 months I will be training in the northern part of Virginia. While im here what may i chance to encounter while exploring the many unpopulated parts of my base and surrounding areas?

Humm maybe some garter snakes, copper heads, depending on what is around you Cottonmouths(nasty buggers), water snakes, racer, I have seen all of those before in the NOVA area more toward PWC but still... for a full list of snakes in VA I'll post a link but I have not seen a lot of the snakes they say are here so don't get to uppy.

Now, as a warning they say that the Cottonmouth is not the northen area, they are. I have seen one. I watched as a Marine, silly jarhead, played with one only to end up getting bit. Be careful if you get those guys upset they won't back down.

Hope you like to fish :*) Dahlgren is strategically placed on the Potomac. Upriver for largemouth bass, downriver for rockfish. Thats win win.

You'll be right across the river from St. Mary's County, MD, and it's a neat place to check out.

Look in the right areas and you'll find a butt-load of Garders and Black Rats. There's the occasional copperhead, but they aren't as common as one would think. Water snakes are reasonably common in some areas. Good luck with your findings!
