Cute snake, this should probably be in the photo board tho :)
Btw, I personally try not to handle the snakes when they're in blue as I don't think they can see very well. It's best just to leave him alone and let him get on with it.

Unless you're using a corn as a guide animal (i.e. seeing-eye snake), there's no reason to avoid handling while they're in blue. :grin01:

LOL. That wasn't quite what I meant :p
I had always thought you shouldn't handle them during a shed? And being in blue is part of the shed phase or so I always thought... I thought that if they can't see you, they get stressed out when they can't hide.

i do try to avoid it but i had to put his new thermostat in :p he was fine with it though.I wouldnt stress him out for no reason :)

I know this is your thread scad, but maybe someone can help me. I've had my corn for a little over 2 weeks and he has not shed for me yet. The difference is he is a Candy Cane and has red eyes. Will his red eyes turn blue still? Thanks.

I find that red-eyed snakes tend to go more a pale colour. You should notice his body colour gets duller.
2 weeks isn't a long time btw, young corns shed roughly once a month.

When their eyes are opaque, some snakes may be more nervous than usual or even a bit aggressive. For some reason, my feistiest snakes seem to turn this notion upside down, and I find that they're at their mellowest when in blue. :shrugs:

i thought so.:) just changed his water and he is up and about. So decided to pick him up and was very happy to it in my hand a curl around my arm.

Oooow also has any one shown there snake a mirror.Just showed mine and he was very interested

Mine don't seem to notice mirrors, but all fascinated by the camera, which makes good close-ups more of a challenge

What's happening when you have a snake that goes blue, then clears, then goes blue again and so forth. Trouble shedding? Or could this be a weird infection? My sweet boy isn't doing it but I have a friend that his snake has been doing this for a while and it's just weird.

All I spoted on my amel when she / he shed was duller colours did not see any kind of eye change at all, would I be right in guessing that there is no eye change or if there is its hard to spot?
