He's here, he's here!!!!!!!!!!!

My lil' corn arrived, and he's alive, thank goodness! I have in his enclosure, he didnt move much at first, kinda just sat around, so I sat him on the warm side since he was cold. I came back 15 mins later, and he was crawling around the enclosure. yay

I dunked him in the water to make sure all the dirt and moss he was packed in was rinsed off. Do I need to do anything else? I want to make sure he drinks, he kind of just riggled around in the water...but i doubt he drank. Also, since his enclosure is smaller than it will be I am using a tupperware thing for his water dish. So the edges are a little raised, and Im not sure if he will be able to GET to the water...what should I do?

Snakes dont drink that often, and when they do, a little rim on a tupperware isn't going to stop them. I picked up a package of 8 little glad things and I'm using them for the 5 new hatchilings I got in the mail yesterday, no problems.

Just leave the little guy alone for a few days and then start handling it for short periods daily.

YAY!!! How exciting!!! Sounds like things are going pretty well over there. I wouldn't worry about the water dish either. So what does your new little boy look like? We will be anxiously awaiting pics this next week. :) Congratulations on your new addition, and I hope you enjoy him lots!

hey good to hear! my hatchling finally drank in front of me the other day it was one of the coolest things to me! may not be big to many others but it was my first sign that she wasnt completely terrified of me still. good feeling. then she quickly went back to hiding. haha

pics

Here are two just real quick pics of him...he's very calm, he just sits still in my hand when I picked him up the first time, and just now when I took the pics.

Im not knowledgable about the types of coloring of corns,,,,he just looks like a regular ole corn to me. lol But maybe you guys know more than me.

Yay for Torque!

awesome! i wish mine would be that calm when i first got her, or even now! onyl time she was that calm was when she looked up at me and took a dump in my hand. :toiletgra

Looks like a nice little normal if the pictures accurate. I'd leave him alone for a few days and then start handling him. Congrats!

I've got a question. Right now I have him in a temp cage, just a plastic storage bin. And I have UTH on one side, and this morning I found my corn almost right against the plastic next to the UTH. I have newspaper pieces right now as substrate, and laid down papertowel on the bottom to keep him from getting right next to the UTH....Im scared he's going to get burned..

Any way for me to keep him away from it?
