I'm a newbie to the snake world. Heck, I don't even have a snake yet. But I know I will soon :D. So I decided to come here first before buying a snake. And of course, the corn snake seemed to be the best snake available. ;) So I'm just here to learn from all of you guys and ask a few questions.

I'm also into fish keeping and my inspiration is Takashi Amano

I know its really :-offtopic :p

Hi Karen :wavey: welcome to the forum!

It is a great idea to do some research before getting your snake. And this is a great place to learn from. There are many friendly, knowledgeable members here.

Hi Karen! Welcome to the forums.

First things first: Read the husbandry sections for some REALLY good information. Second: Look through the photo gallery to figure out which morph is your favorite.

Just a quick hint: Stay away from the "Cornsnakes for Sale" if you only plan on one!

Hey Karen! :wavey:

I'm a fish geek too, and I just got into snakes this past April. I got my sixth on Saturday. You think MTS is a problem? You ain't seen nuthin'!!

That's a gorgeous tank. I love Amano's work. Do you use his products as well? It's an expensive hobby, and one I just couldn't master. I think I've spent over $200 on HC. Pffft...dies every time. Snakes are soooo much easier! ;)

Anyways...sorry to ramble. Looking forward to seeing you around the forum, and KUDOS to you for doing your research first! Corns are really wonderful snakes.

Welcome Karen! Your aquarium is gorgeous! You're quite right; corns are the best snakes. And Lori's right about the comparative ease of snake-keeping. You're going to think this is a breeze!

In addition to the great info (and people) here, you might like to pick up a couple of books that helped me a lot. "The Comprehensive Owner's Guide to Corn Snakes" by Kathy Love is required reading for anyone who wants to learn about these wonderful creatures. Don Soderberg's "Corn Snakes in Captivity" is also nice to have around. Both have good info and fun photos. You can order them online, or from the author's websites. Kathy's is www.cornutopia.com, and Don's is www.cornsnakes.net.

Happy herping!

thank you :)

The husbandry section is pretty interesting and there are more morphs than I thought!

Hahaha, Amano is amazing. I dont think I have MTS. I only have a 75 and 30 gallon tank :D

ok those are books I'm definitely going to be reading.
and its not my tank, its Amano's. :p

thank you :)

I thought it was, but didn't want to ask. I love his use of riccia on the rocks. He's truly amazing.

Feel free to post pics of your tanks in the General chit chat forum. I'd absolutely love to see them!

Do you know what type of corn you'd like to have? There are so many beautiful morphs available.

I kinda suck at the whole aquatic plant thing. The goldfish eat it and the CO2 makes the water green :p So its just java fern and onion plant for me. and I broke the only camera in my house.....:headbang:

I really like the morphs with red in them. But there are so many morphs with red in them XD

Welcome aboard!!! Hope you have fun and hope to see you get your first (and not last) corn snake!

So, is that your fish tank??? Amazing looking tank. I know nothing about them except that when I set them up, the fish live for a little while then die.... then I set them up again and the cycle repeats. LOL.

You'll love snakes!!! Much less labor intensive! LOL.

Looks like everything is covered by the other but I just wanted to say, welcome to the forum!!!

Welcome Karen!! Research is the best thing you can do before you get a snake. :D I wanted a snake for almost a year and a half before I actually got one, lol.
You'll find pretty much anything you need here!

Good luck and hopefully you will get your first little one soon enough!
