Hiking in Great Falls, Virginia

The weather has finally decided to turn warm here in Northern Virginia, so I decided to take a hike into Great Falls park along the Potomac river. Wasn't sure I would see much, but just when I was about to give up, I came across this small eastern gartersnake. Just as I was about to grab him, he jumped in the river......man they are quick. Also saw some salamanders, and since we just had some snow melt off, I took some pics of the falls too.........the river was raging!!! I've seen eastern kingsnakes here all the time, but I think it's a little too early for them to be out.
