I fed my snake yesterday morning, and changed the water today and had to handle it to get it out of the way of where i put the water, i was told it will puke some time now, then earlier today i found either a poop or puke, i'm really not sure what it is, should i feed it again and leave it for 48 hours?

thanks - James

Did it have a horrible smell? A regurge typically smells really bad.

If you are uncertain as to whether it is poop or a regurge, then you should wait for at least 10 days before feeding again. Anytime one regurges, you should give it time to rebuild its stomach acid before feeding again.

Trust me, if it's regurge, you'll know it. :puke01: It smells absolutely horrible. As for feeding it...I would wait until your regular feeding day. I doubt that by moving your snake aside, you caused him to puke. Excessive handling of a snake when it's just eaten can stress it out enough to make it puke, but IMO not simply moving it aside the next day. If you definately think it IS a regurge, then wait 10 days to feed him.
Good luck!

this morning it also was trying to get under the substrate, but gave up, using claci sand
I suggest changing substrates. Corns are not desert snakes and using calci-sand can cause some major problems...the most concerning would be impaction. Impaction is when the intestinal tract gets blocked. This is something that can be fatal to your snake. In my opinion it's not worth the risk!

Did what you see look kind of chalky? If so, then it was probably urates (urine). Since you don't remember a smell, then most likely it wasn't a regurge. I agree that most likely a regurge wouldn't be caused simply by moving your snake aside so you could put its water bowl down.

I personally prefer aspen. There are others that can be used, too. I am not sure what's available in the UK, though. Just don't use aromatic woods like pine or cedar.

I agree...I tried a couple of substrates, before I switched to Aspen...IMO, this has worked GREAT for me...
