Hognose snake eats himself (Graphic)(Video)

How exactly would somebody get a hognose to let go of itself? I have heard running water on a snakes mouth/head will make them let go..but that snake was in its water dish. Would you just mess with it enough so that it 'regurges' itself? Would just picking it up do it or could you risk further injury?
 
That snake was so far gone into eating mode that I doubt it would regurge on it's own before it died, but there's always that slim chance it could self-correct although I wouldn't bet on it.

The most difficult aspect is that hognose are rear-fanged, so trying to pull the body out would be quite difficult if not impossible without adding further injury to the snake unless you used a tool like a form of specula that could be inserted between the teeth and the body and then carefully slide the body out. I've had to do this with a few hogs that have decided to try and eat me, it's not easy getting them off once they go into chewing mode as those rear-fangs really dig in; so for those instances, I've always used something like a business card to push between the teeth and my finger (which seems to be the most desirable morsel) and then I could safely remove the hog without pulling on it or breaking any of it's teeth or even jawbone.

I just hope that somebody was able to rescue that hog from itself before it did any permanent damage or died from this incident.
 
You think at the very least the owner would be more concerned about the monetary value of the snake even though he/she obviously doesn't care about the animal's well being...aren't amels pretty pricey? And I had this issue with vine snake babies awhile back. I had one trying to eat itself and I ran it under the faucet and it let go of its tail. I would also think a spritz of mouthwash might do the trick.
