I'm off to Denver to pick up a het-albino western hognose today!
I've been looking for one for a while, and it took them a few days to actually decide to sell it to me. Good choice I think... all critters that come through my door are doomed to being spoiled rotten.

He is a little tiny snake! I will have pics up soon, my camera died as I was taking pictures of him haha. I've been searching for one for a while, so i was glad when I found this one on craigslist.

Gambit the Comedian
(basically, my boyfriend got to name him, and I LOVE gambit from x-men so we decided to name him Gambit.. but my boyfriend's favorite superhero is The Comedian from Watchmen. So, Gambit the Comedian it is!) I think his name was Rolin when I picked him up.

Batrachotoxic, actually :)
Means that their venom is amphibian specific. So, as long as you don't happen to be an amphibious critter/allergic to their venom all is good. They're also rear-fanged, so to even be injected by their venom you'd have to practically let them eat you (you'll see pictures of a guy who got bitten by one on the internet if you do a google search). We have a hognose at the zoo I volunteer at and small children get to handle him. I wouldn't get myself anything dangerous haha. But yes, they are indeed venomous.
 
Cute little snakey!!! I've never seen an upclose pic of one before lol Yeah... I've never googled them :shrugs: but I've seen blurry pics of them on craigslist a few times and have to say, you have the nicest looking one I've seen :)

Just googled that because I was surprised considering I see so many on craigslist! Apparently they are venemous, but its not enough to do anything to a human other than mildly irritate the bite site and, in some cases, cause swelling for a little while. Seems like nothing to worry about? Personally, I wouldn't want one as a pet because of that fact, but I don't think its anything dangerous from what I read. I did see some pics of a guy who's whole arm was swollen for around 72 hrs, but apparently he let his hognose chew on him for a few minutes... why? I don't know lol

Haha, yep! I learned that from my time volunteering at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. I just learned the word for it in class though (I'm studying zoology), so now I'm obsessed with using the word batrachotoxin. The guy you're talking about is also the same one I mentioned, he happened to have an allergic reaction to them too. Thanks for the compliment too :)
He's a swell little guy. A little puffy, which is funny. But he has not struck at me (hopefully he won't, I don't want to find out if I'm allergic to him haha).
