how often or much can we hold the snake. he is a baby corn. :sidestep: we want to love him and hold him and he seems okay with it? what about his body temp? is ours warm enough if were holding him??

You can handle him daily if you want to, and the snake is OK with it :) Your body temperature should be enough to keep him warm while slithering around your hands. I normally handle my guy about 2 or 3 times a week for about 1/2 hour - Some people handle more than that, some less. The only time you cant handle is for 48 hours after feeding.
If it's a hatchling and you have just got him, you should really leave him alone for about 5 days to settle into his new home...

"Let your snake be your guide"

Aside from the mandatory "settle in" period when you first bring your snake home, and the 48 hour digestion period, let your snake tell you how much handling is too mu8ch.

I have 3 snakes. 2 of them are absolute sweethearts, that can be handled as much as I, or my daughter, want to without any undue stress or issues. It is simply a matter of not being stressed out. They are very calm and relaxed, in hand. 1 of them is still "settling in"(even after a month with me), and I am working with her on not being so "jumpy" when objects move around her, and so I handle her less often, until she settles down a little more.

This is very true. It really depends on the snake. I had heard hatchlings were flighty and were a little jumpier, but mine is really chill. She'd just slowly make her way around your fingers and she's fallen asleep in the palm of my hand a couple times.

Because she was so calm I had her out so often that I was afraid I was over-handling her. Generally, If your snake is eating well and doesn't seem to be stressed out, then handle away.

If it's constantly trying to "escape" and is breathing hard (signs of stress), then maybe limit it to a couple minutes a day. Try to work up slowly and not to stress them too much.

Hope that helps a little!

I have 3 snakes. An adult and 2 babies about 4 months apart from when we purchased them. The adult was great from the beginning. Bree our first baby was flighty as could be! Never struck at us, but boy you better have been ready to catch a flying snake when you picked her up. Brogan we just purchased a month ago, and what a calm little bugger he is. Bree has just recently started to calm down with daily handling(except for the 2 days after feeding)but it was a long process to say the least. Hope this helps you a little.
