Hello all,

I just wanted to share a housing option for snakes up to about 18" that I've been using. This is a five shelf double door cabinet that can hold 75 (15per shelf X 5) Rubbermaid tubs. Three tubs stacked fit so perfectly into the shelves... so perfect that if you don't get each tub in the groove of the one below it they won't fit into the shelf. The reason I mention this is because I've had a hatchling squeeze it's way out under a lid before but not in this setup. The Cabinet was $118 and the Rubbermaid shoe boxes were $4.47 for a pack of 6. I got both at Lowes. Here is a link to the cabinet. I'll have to post again later with a number for the pack of six and the dimensions of the shoeboxes because I can't find it on Lowes' web site and I threw away all the stickers from the containers.

My cabinet has 2 adults corns in it till I build a rack, 32 hatchling to yearling size corns, and supplies. Here is a picute of mine. Let me know what you think. Have a great day!

Thanks Bmm! I'm glad to finally contribute something. Lol. I can't tell you how much I've learned from this site. I'll post some pics of my rat and mouse combination rack I built as soon as I get some pics taken of it. If your housing 1:4 it holds 24 rats and 24 mice.
 
That is deffinetly a very nice rack system. How do you heat that, with flexwatt in the back or do you just keep the room at a southern temperature?
 
Oh cool. I find racks for rodents even more convienent than using them for snakes. Makes things sooooo much easier.

I like that cabinet...If you don't mind my asking what are the dimensions of that cabinet???What is the spacing between shelves???

I just might have to go out to lowes and get one like it...

mattsnake - I keep my room temp around 77 F. If you wanted to run flexwatt down the back of this cabinet it would be easy since you assemble it yourself. You would tack on the flexwat vertically on the back of the shelves before putting on the back pieces. You could even put 1/4" pegbaord on the back to get more ventilation.

drizzt_19 - There is about 14 5/8" between the shelves and the dimensions of the cabinet are 79 3/4"H x 47"W x 16 1/4"D I'm glad I could help. No problem.

You're welcome. I'm sure you'll like it. I'll post another message later this week with the item number of the tubs and the item number of the 6 pack of tubs. 6 tubs for $4.47... you can't beat that. Lol.
 
The Rubbermaid containers are 6.5L tubs and didn't seem to have any other associated numbers on them like an item or model number. The Lowes by my house didn't have any more of the six packs so I don't know what the item number was. Hope that helps.

VinnyJ--- At the top left of that pic you have 2 containers. One with a blue lid and one with a black lid. How big are those (inch/cm) and what do you keep in them. I ask this because I have the exact same containers.

Those are Critter Keepers and they usually house my son's bugs of the week. Lol. The blue one had an albino praying mantis at the time. Now he's back in my yard eating bugs... hopefully. Lol. I'm not sure the size. I think they're about 6" W X 10" L x 8" H
