Housing snakes in the same room as rodents.

I have an adult albino that I had to move into the same room as my guinea pigs and mice. I have a space problem and so this was the only place I could put them however I can't stop wondering if this is good for them. The snake hardly hides anymore since she was moved into the new room.

i dont think thair is any problem with haveing your snake in the room as you rodents. i keep my 4 snakes in the same room as my rats and mice and thay are fine. your snake is probuly out more because the cage is in a new room.

Maybe its just jonsin for guinea pigs if you are worried maybe you could arrange it so that the rodent cage isn't in view of the snake cage might make things better for everyone.

I have mice, hamsters and snakes in the same room, no problem. I would just make sure lids are very secure. Just another hint making it so the snake can't see the guinea pig won't help, snake smell and sense heat.

A piece of wood or something solid will block the heat of the animal. And the smell they might get used to right? I am sure the smell is far less interesting then watching the little buggers run around just out of reach. I mean I know I am new but I am just trying to help

I'm sorry I'm not disagreeing with you. I just didn't want "artite" to stand on their head to block view. I actually have my biggest snake facing a mouse colony about 12-15", the only time he gets interested is when I am doing something with the mice.
I think the most important thing is secure lids, as someone on here posted a pic of an escaped snake in the hamster tank, licking it's chops.

Thank, i making sure the lid each time when i go away or sleep. I will be kind of sad to lose a guinea pig.

I wanted to ask too, this room have a second effect on my albino. She doesn't want anymore frozen mouse ??? is it because she can smell and taste fresh alive food ?
All her body is under the substrate except her tongue pointing the mice colony. i really think she is hunting. She is looking at me sometimes and let me think """"give me something"""". I feed a large mouse every 7 days. 2 days before giving the mouse , i feed her a hooper's. ( her weight is 550 g, 1m 30, i think her age not more than 1.5 )

I got a pictures on my cellphones i will post it tomorrow.

That is just an inquisitive pose ..Snakes love to just poke their heads out when there is movement;) Mine are in the same room as my birds and my daughter often has her rats around them..I cant see it being a problem. I would just think it is the newness of the new room.

I still have one of my adults snakes that is a bit bent out of shape that he lost his cage to go into my new rack system. Any change takes them sometime..Good luck!!!

Try to stick to the f/t ;)

I doubt that is why she won't eat f/t. My guy eats anything with four legs and fur even if fur is wet and disgustng.

Oops hit send to soon. Have you tried wiggling the mouse near his face or slowly drag it acorss feeding tub>

yes i did like this way. she just tasting it and ignored it. The second time i made sure that the mouse was enough warm , and still nothing. But if i through a alive mice in her feeding tanks, well she doesn't wait a second, she strike it straight. I will try again , i will buy a frozen mouse from the pet shop, so i will know if it is my frozen mice.

thank !

1,5 years and over half a kilo? O_O Doesn't this sound disturbingly huge to anyone else? Then again she is getting fed a lot... But my 1,5 year old snakes are more like 200g. My four-year-old female is her size. And I don't think I've ever heard of such a big young snake. But well, as long as she has nice muscle tone, isn't fat etc, I guess it's no harm. Was just surprised, are you relaly sure about the age?

I think the reason she isn't eating is that she's not hungry, seeing as how much food she's getting.

Oh, and I'm sure that at her weight she can go without food for some weeks without any harm. No reason to get her used to getting live by giving up too soon when she goes on hunger strike. ;p

I don't think you have to worry about the guinea pigs. Even the largest adult corn snake couldn't swallow a guinea pig, unless it was a baby.
