my snake was in the "pre-shedding" process and now its colors are back.

anyway i have a lock for my snake's tank and i forgot to lock it yesterday so my snake escaped last night .it usually escapes to the same place. behind the tank exactly theres a poster its always behind it.

so today i tried some things like put a wet towel to moist up the cage and you know make it shed.

still no shed or anything

so im thinking. what if it already shed when it ran away.

anyway how can found out.

I swear what is it with snakes escaping when they are due for a shed?? Thats three times that's happened to me now. I dont think its a husbandry prob as snakes shed with no probs...

As for your question. I take it your snake is back (sorry read your post v fast). If his colours are back then assume he has shed. You can usually tell if they have shed or are simply post-milky eyed. (post milky: snake is usually not as bright and skin looks 'loose' in my experience).

my snake tends to go 'grey' skinned then blue eyed then grey again then normal coloured before it sheds....which is odd.......and very confusing!! it sends me searching around his tub for ages! opening up the sheets of newspaper pulling shredded paper apart..looking under his hides countless times...::sigh:: i think im going mad!

im keeping all his sheds in a lil book! like one of those baby scrapbooks...aw hes so sweet:rolleyes:

have u tried giving him/her a bath? ive found it works a treat:D
i also put some crumpled paper in there cuz he seemed to like scratching himself against stuff...my hand too..... which was really wierd! thats all ive done!

relax

:)

Snakes go blue ---eyes blue, skin a dull color either grey or blue or just lighter.

then they go clear-- skin looks clear, eyes are clear...

then they shed.

Sometimes from the time their eyes go clear again it can take up to a week. Some snakes take a day after the blue to shed, some the week. It just depends.
