How do I measure length?

How in the heck do I get my snakes to stretch out and stay that way so I can get an accurate length measurement on them? Really, what methods are there to accomplish this? Right now I am recording growth based on weight and "eyeball" estimate of increase in girth and length.

as an estimate, try taking the length of a fresh shed and subtracting 10% off of it. It's not 100% accurate, but if you want to do a quick check after a shed, it doesn't take that long to do.

And Serp, I know you'll read this, and I meant to make a note of this the other day so I'll just say it here. Mojo shed on Saturday. I took the length of the shed and subtracted 10%. It came out to 43", and the last time I used your program (2 weeks ago or so), it told me 41". So maybe that method doesn't work for everyone, but it works for some of us anyway :)
