How do i reduce the cage smell???

My wife complains that the Corn cage smells a little. LOL smells fine to me. Anyway i use aspen and clean it constantly. It doesnt smell that bad i am just trying to please the wife. You know "happy wife happy life". Ideas appreciated

Hello, in all my enclosures I use orchard bark. I buy large bags from a nursery. The bark comes in three sizes. I use the medium size chunks. Besides looking really nice, it is very easy to spot clean and gives off a very mild pleasant aroma. REG
 
What really smells is reptile carpet. I got away from that ASAP! The nice part about it was that you knew instantly when a snake had poo'd, the terrible part is that you knew instantly when a snake had poo'd! :p We currently use Forest Bark which is just like Repti-Bark (fir chips) and our fella's cages don't smell at all. I would think that Aspen would provide the same absorption of waste and smell? Anyway, you might want to give it a try. Good luck to you, err your wife rather. ;)
 
eggs

Hi, I just had my female lay a clutch of eggs, they are not round more oval and long. Are they going to survive? they are white and have some weight to them, they are burried in mulch with their mother. I hope they are going to be ok but have a feeling they are infertile, can anyone help me with what to do?.

use potpouri...

as your substrate and put scented candles at the bottom of the cage. i did that once cuz norbert smelled bad, never had a problem again :)

yea...dur...i'm just joking. it seems like you're doing everything possible, perhaps it just the substrate that has a slight odor, probably not really a bad one, just a smell to it. tell your wife to deal with it.

Perhaps changing your cage? My wife and I noticed a HUGE difference when I purchased these two cages. I had a reptarium prior and you could smell if the snake farted in that thing Lol

Don't know if you can get hold of it where you are, but my local herp shop stocks T-Rex Bio-Fresh "Environment Refresher/Malodor Inhibitor". Essentially, it's a reptile-friendly air freshener for use inside vivs. I sometimes use it if I've just had to clean up, I'm expecting people round and there isn't time for the general smell to subside!

Have you managed to pin down whether there's anything specific in the viv that particularly smells?
